Mastercard Boosts Music Industry with “Music Accelerator” Web3 Program

Mastercard is committing to further invest in its objective to become a web3-savvy brand, by introducing its Mastercard Music Accelerator program. Today, Mastercard, the credit card giant, has announced the names of the first two musical artists chosen to participate in this program.

This program is designed to equip five upcoming musicians with the necessary guidance and resources to leverage blockchain-based technologies in order to grow their careers. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January, the program was officially unveiled to the public.

Mastercard Announces their Selected Music Artists

Mastercard has already announced two emerging music artists who will be included in their Music Accelerator program: Manu Manzo, a Venezuela-born American singer-songwriter nominated for “Best New Artist” at the Grammy Awards, and Young Athena, a British R&B singer. Three more artists who will participate in the program will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

These five artists selected by Mastercard will represent a diverse array of genres, geographies, and stories. Their unique stories, sound, and focus on inclusivity will make them ideal for the project, Mastercard noted in its press release. Today’s announcement from Mastercard comes at a time when many brands, drawn by the advanced possibilities and promotional opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) models such as ChatGPT, have paused their efforts to position themselves as specialists in Web3.

Simply put, Web3 is an umbrella term that, from a corporate perspective, encompasses immersive and blockchain-based technologies, including Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), cryptocurrency, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and so on.

The Mastercard Music Pass NFT

Mastercard is offering music enthusiasts the opportunity to take part in the new Music Accelerator program with the Mastercard Music Pass NFT, which is hosted on the Polygon blockchain. Earlier this year, the brand announced the Music Accelerator program, indicating that the NFT would provide unique resources and invaluable experiences, both in real life and in the virtual world. Today, the brand further highlighted that the NFT integrates Mastercard’s design principles and its signature sound to create a remarkable digital collectible.
