Maa Durga will experience her first “MetaPujo” when 3D virtual versions of famous Kolkata Durga Puja temples, including the Tala Prattay pandals, Ahiritola Sarbojanin, Ballygunge Cultural, and Deshapriya Park, are made available online. Obviously, nothing beats being in Kolkata for Durga Puja, but even if you can’t make it this year, you can still experience some of the excitement of pandal hopping from the comfort of your own home.

Both Metaform and XP&DLAND contribute to the MetaPujo project. They propose to build hubs around 3D recreations of the pandals, where users of the metaverse platform ‘Spatial’ may join a shared social area where people from all over the globe can roam about, talk and even snap pictures together. In addition, end users may create a very realistic representation of themselves. Every person in the world may use the platform with nothing more than a smartphone, tablet, or wearable device.
Kolkata’s four most famous pandals, Tala Prattay, Deshapriya Park, Ballygunge Cultural, and Ahiritola Sarbojanin, will each have a unique NFT of a Maa Durga idol on display during MetaPujo. There will be a free drop of the four NFTs on XP&DLand for any fans or collectors who wish to grab them with their newfangled Web 3.0 wallets.
