In a bid to optimize its functionality and further bolster its developer ecosystem, Soneium, an Ethereum Layer-2 solution developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, has integrated Chainlink’s standards. On Tuesday, Chainlink, a global leader in decentralized oracle networks, confirmed that its core solutions are now live on Soneium mainnet, marking a significant step forward for the Sony-initiated blockchain project.
This integration sees Chainlink’s CCIP, Data Streams, and Data Feeds now accessible on the Soneium mainnet, positioning Chainlink as a pivotal launch partner for the next-gen Sony blockchain. Soneium aims to tap into the power of Chainlink’s Cross Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as its primary cross-chain infrastructure. Additionally, Chainlink’s Data Feeds and Data Streams will provide a platform for Soneium developers to craft sophisticated DeFi applications enriched with high-grade market data.
Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs exuded positivity, remarking, “Developers now have access to critical Chainlink infrastructure that will allow them to expand what’s possible to build on Soneium.”
Soneium’s mission is to bridge Web3 technologies with Sony Group’s expansive user base, integrating capabilities from additional Web3 partners such as Circle, Alchemy, The Graph, and Astar Network. The project aims to bridge the divide between traditional finance and Web3, fostering connectivity among culturally diverse individuals and facilitating their on-chain onboarding.
The integration with Chainlink follows Soneium’s inclusion in the Chainlink Scale program in September 2024, a measure taken after an earlier collaboration with Oracle. The Chainlink Scale program is aimed at spearheading the growth of blockchain and layer-2 ecosystems in a sustainable manner.
With an increasing number of blockchain platforms adopting Chainlink’s standards, Soneium’s recent collaboration is set to further propel the protocol’s widespread use. As covered in a previous report, Sonic Labs utilized Chainlink’s CCIP on the Sonic mainnet, integrating Chainlink Data Streams and Data Feeds. BOB Network similarly adopted Chainlink’s CCIP as its native token’s canonical infrastructure.
Sony’s commitment to bolstering Soneium is further evident in its launch of the Fan Marketing Platform. This platform utilizes Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to revamp engagement and marketing strategies, making it easier for fans to connect with their favorite creators and brands. Among its features are web-based wallets with social login options.
Additionally, Sony introduced S.BLOX to support creators and brands. S.BLOX provides digital asset exchange services that simplify access to Web3 applications, offering Bitcoin rewards to new users to promote smooth crypto acquisition and usage across the Soneium ecosystem.
