Political figures, celebrities, investors and startups put crypto on the map at Consensus 2024

UNITED STATES: Over 15 thousand cryptocurrency enthusiasts turned out for this year’s Consensus 2024 which was held at The Austin Convention Centre from 29 – 31 May. Billed as CoinDesk’s biggest event yet, the conference played host to a wide range of industry leaders, innovators, startups, investors, policymakers, and digital currency enthusiasts from around the world. It also showcased the latest developments and trends across payments, NFTs, Web3, DeFi, regulation, investment, AI and the Metaverse.

Some of the highlights of the event included a panel discussion with US Presidential candidate Robert F.Kennedy Jnr. (yesterday) where media gained their first glimpse into his response to the Trump verdict. Others included the announcement that Consensus would be expanding its reach and bringing its world class crypto conference to Toronto and Hong Kong in 2025. Another unique addition to this year’s lineup was the Karate Combat Influencer Fight Club, which saw Fyre Festival Billy McFarland take on crypto YouTuber and influencer Justin “Jchains” Custardo only to be crowned winner. Amalgamating crypto with karate for the first time ever, the fierce event attracted a wide berth of celebrities, including Joe Rogan, Shane Gillis, Tony Hinchcliffe, Ben Lamm, and Chris Williamson to the sidelines.

With attendees from more than 100 countries, the event saw 6,800 companies, over 750 media, 275 startups, 1,500 developers and 850 investors gather to share groundbreaking insights, great stories and next level inspiration.

The announcement of Consensus Toronto was welcomed by many and is confirmed to take place from May 14 to May 16, 2025, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. In addition, Consensus Hong Kong will also get underway from 19 to February 20, 2025, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
