Playboy is looking forward to bringing their ‘MetaMansion’ virtual world to the metaverse this year, as Liz Suman, the company’s web3 lead recently revealed in an interview.

Liz Suman, the Web3 Lead at the American magazine, has confirmed the launch of their very own metaverse experience ‘MetaMansion’ this year. Those who acquired one of the magazine’s prior NFTs, Rabbitars, will be granted priority access during the launch, along with The Sandbox LAND owners. Nevertheless, there might also be an opportunity for others to observe and explore the digital mansion as well.
The mansion serves as a “north star” for the company in the web3 and NFTs space, according to Suman. Last year, Animoca Brands, the company behind The Sandbox, revealed a collaborative plan to launch a LAND sale in the game. Whilst the exact date of the sale was yet to be confirmed, a rough time frame of Q4 2022 was announced. Recently, a more concrete time frame has been set, with a specific date to be revealed in due course.

Playboy’s Stance in the NFT Market
Playboy has made three significant moves within the NFT industry over the course of the last couple of years. The first, ‘Liquid Summer’, was a collaboration with artist Slimesunday and was released in early 2021. This project transformed content from Playboy’s extensive 10 million-strong archive into NFTs for the first time. It sold out in less than three minutes upon launch. At present, the starting price for the 195-piece collection on OpenSea is 3.69 ETH. In the last three months, there also have been noteworthy subsequent sales.
Within the same year, the launch of their inaugural NFT collection ‘Rabbitars’ marked the establishment of a web3 community and proved to be a cornerstone of Playboy’s NFT business. Upon the launch of ‘MetaMansion’, owners of NFTs from Rabbitars will be granted special benefits. This ever-growing collection of 11,000 avatars currently has a floor price of 0.05 ETH on OpenSea, where daily sales occur regularly.
