Sea Salt Caramel by Anirudh Akella Combines Literature, Art, Blockchain, and Social Impact in a First-of-Its-Kind Collectible Project
Bangalore, India – March 26, 2025 – Anirudh Akella, a startup growth strategist and emerging thought leader in Web3, announces the launch of Sea Salt Caramel, India’s first true collectible poetry book. Positioned at the intersection of literature, art, technology, and philanthropy, Sea Salt Caramel introduces a pioneering model for how creative works can drive meaningful social impact through Web3 innovation.
Sea Salt Caramel is a limited edition poetry book consisting of 3,645 physical copies only. Each copy is linked to an immutable proof-of-ownership token, making it the first poetry book in India to use blockchain to verify authenticity and protect against piracy. This novel use-case also turns each book into a verified collectible, reimagining how books are sold, owned, and valued, thus positioning itself as a “true collectible”.
Structured in four parts—Before, During, After & Later—the book tells a story of modern love through 30+ original poems. What is interesting, though, is that it will not be available on traditional platforms like Amazon or Flipkart. Instead, distribution follows a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model via exclusive drops and an application-based access system. As a deeply personal passion project, Anirudh claims to be very intentional in who can hold onto this collectible and is prepared to forego the quick buck in exchange for creating a more personalised and valuable ownership experience for every holder.
Buyers can purchase the book in 3 ways:
– Receiving an invite from the Author’s Invite,
-Holder’s Invite, where people who have already purchased the book can invite more people
– Joining the Allowlist by dropping a DM to @moonlitmanuscript_ on Instagram.
“I hope that people buy this ‘Keepsake of modern love’ as a present for a friend, partner or a loved one,” said Anirudh Akella. “Giving gifts is one of my favorite love languages and I want to try and realise that through Sea Salt Caramel as well.”
What makes Sea Salt Caramel truly distinct is its mission-driven business model. All proceeds from book sales will be donated through two social impact initiatives:
- Project Vani: Supporting women and queer communities, named in honor of the author’s mother.
- Project Yuna: Funding animal welfare and conservation efforts, named after a lost pet.
Buyers of the book can also participate in decision-making around grant disbursements, creating a transparent, community-led philanthropic structure. A full impact report will be shared towards the end with all holders.
The platform facilitating tokenized proof-of-ownership has been developed with SinQlarity—a Web3 development abstraction layer—allowing secure, on-chain verification without traditional intermediaries. This model is expected to be open-sourced later this year under an MIT License. Over 50 writers have already expressed interest in using this infrastructure to tokenize their own works, laying the foundation for a new wave of decentralized publishing in India and potentially disrupting the self-publishing industry in the long term.
Anirudh Akella, currently leading Partnerships & Growth at Etherspot and Strategy at Levitate Labs, brings over eight years of startup experience across fintech, edtech, and Web3. He has been a speaker at multiple global blockchain events surrounding ETH CC, ETH Vietnam, Token2049, and Devcon, and now channels that experience into creating mission-aligned consumer models.
“Sea Salt Caramel isn’t just a book—it’s a prototype for how art, community, and technology can align to create lasting value,” said Akella. “By combining intentional design with blockchain-enabled transparency, we’re creating a replicable model for sustainable impact and building trust in the creator economy.”
With early backing from leaders in design, blockchain, literature, and the startup ecosystem, the project has already sold 5% of its limited copies via author-invite purchases. It is currently expanding its community of readers to include more people who can benefit from the book and lend support to the goodwill initiatives it is spearheading.
