Elixir and Securitize Partnership Unlocks DeFi for Hamilton Lane’s

Elixir, a decentralized consensus network for cryptocurrency exchanges, has recently entered into a partnership with Securitize, a leading tokenization platform. This strategic collaboration aims to unlock decentralized finance (DeFi) for the Senior Credit Opportunities Fund (SCOPE Fund) of Hamilton Lane, a private credit fund.

On January 8, Elixir officially announced it was joining forces with Securitize to facilitate institutional access to the SCOPE Fund, which was launched on Solana (SOL), a high-performance blockchain, in July 2024.

This partnership is set to make Elixir the default path to DeFi for SCOPE investors. The platform is expected to offer access via its decentralized stablecoin, deUSD. According to a statement released by Elixir, “Starting Monday, in partnership with Securitize, Elixir will enable the fund’s institutional asset holders to keep isolated exposure and natively access DeFi via deUSD.”

In a notable development last November, Securitize integrated with deUSD’s real-world asset (RWA) institutional program. This move resulted in the launch of sToken vaults, which significantly improved the functionality, liquidity, and composability of RWAs. Holders of Securitize-issued RWAs are now able to leverage deUSD for liquidity in DeFi while continuing to earn yield from the underlying investments.

Investors using Ethereum-based vaults can now invest in BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund or other tokenized RWA assets. Moreover, they can access additional opportunities across DeFi using deUSD. Elixir’s token serves as the primary currency fueling this decentralized finance experience, without being tethered to users’ original risk exposure.

Elixir stated, “deUSD is the only currency enabling institutional RWA asset holders to use DeFi, without changing their original exposure. Elixir brings default native composability for assets from BlackRock, Hamilton Lane, and others.”

In the wake of this major development, it is worth noting that Elixir successfully raised $8 million in its Series B funding round in March 2024. This partnership with Securitize underscores its commitment to facilitating seamless access to decentralized finance for institutional investors, effectively bridging the gap between traditional finance and the burgeoning world of DeFi.
