The BCH Bliss 2025 conference, scheduled to run from May 13-15 this year, will see a dynamic mix of developers, users, and supporters from various backgrounds descending upon Ljubljana, Slovenia. The conference will focus on the anticipated developments in Bitcoin Cash, despite the overshadowing political discourse that has been dominating the cryptosphere.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the conference is the prominent role of “Velma” non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Bitcoin Cash supporters have been actively acquiring these tokens to secure a spot at the BCH Bliss 2025 conference. The term “Velma” is a phonetic reference to the upcoming May 2025 upgrade, which is centered around Virtual Machine Limits (VML). This follows the 2024 upgrade, amusingly dubbed “Jessica ABLA”, which implemented an Adaptive Blocksize Limit Algorithm.
The Velma upgrade presents an array of promising use cases. According to Bitcoin Cash developers, these include advanced automated market-making and exchange protocols, decentralized stablecoins, collateralized loan protocols, and cross-chain and sidechain bridges, to name a few. The upgrade also includes zero-knowledge proofs among its features.
The forthcoming upgrade aims to further enhance and expand the capabilities introduced with the Cashtokens upgrade in 2023. The Cashtokens upgrade facilitated UTXO-based smart contracts and token creation on the Bitcoin Cash network, all for negligible fees.
The BCH Bliss 2025 conference will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including miners, app developers, and other key players in the BCH ecosystem. Attendance at the conference is secured by purchasing non-fungible “Velma” tokens, primarily available on the BCH tokens marketplace, Tapswap.
Despite the current political climate and the media’s focus on politics, significant progress continues to be made on many crypto networks, including Bitcoin Cash. These developments include important wallet integrations, stablecoin protocols, and smart contract features.
For instance, the Philippines-based Paytaca Wallet recently announced a new feature, currently in its early alpha stage, that allows users to stabilize their BCH in dollar value at any time via an integration with BCHBull. BCHBull is a smart-contract based hedging and speculation platform developed by the Bitcoin Cash developer group, General Protocols.
When asked about the upcoming upgrade and the BCH Bliss conference, Bitcoin Cash Tokyo Meetup organizer BigV said, “Bliss 2024 had an impressive global reach with attendees from all over the world… Bliss 2025 and the May upgrade remove several ‘blockers’ that have prevented many of Satoshi’s unfinished Bitcoin Script ideas, delivering a highly efficient, elegant, and practical platform for the development of the next generation of decentralized finance applications. Bitcoin Cash is thus uniquely positioned to not just be money for the world, but to enable access to powerful permissionless decentralized financial tools to every human on earth.”
